Monk Gear

Today I want to talk a bit more about this project. The main reason why I started it is because the Monk class appeals to me a lot, and I want to play one. What sucks about rerolling is that you don't get to keep all the things you previously did on another character.
That's why I am going to collect as much as possible for my next "main" before I even start him. This way I save a lot of time trying to gather those items after I rolled a Monk. I'm doing things in advance to get a bit of a head start, so to speak.
I'm gonna talk a bit about what kind of things I plan to collect for my Monk in advance.

Gear:

The main reason I want to collect leveling gear in advance is mostly why not, if I'm gonna spend so much time in making the most out of my character before I start one, why not just collect some BoE gear in advance to make the leveling process smoother.
I leveled through 1-85 so many times now that I want to make this process as fast as possible. :)
There isn't that much known about monks, gear wise, so I'm gonna list the things I do know:

-Monks will be able to use Cloth and Leather items.
I presume that they can wear cloth if they wish to do so, but they lose the additional armor that leather provides, similar to how druids gear.
-Monks use Fist Weapons, one-handed Axes Maces Swords or Polearms and Staves. I assume they can dual wield.
In videos I saw most monks use no weapons, so either weapons are just a stat stick or weapons are used for special moves only, since they have no autoattacks.

At this stage I am going to assume that the Monk's DPS Spec, Windwalker, is going to gear exactly like a rogue or feral druid would.

I have yet to make a list of the best items for each level, as this is going to be time consuming.

Transmogrification:

I've been thinking about what kind of look i'd want for my Monk as well. I am pretty sure the new Pandaren starting zone has some beautiful looking Monk gear, that I can use for this, but I plan to gather a backup set just in case the gear isn't transmogrifiable, or just plain boring. :)
This is the first version of my future monk:

The Tauren model is obviously a placeholder, since the Pandaren Model hasn't been released yet.

Head: Stylin' Purple Hat.
Shoulders: Headhunter's Spaulders.
Chest: Big Voodoo Robe.
Gloves: Headhunter's Mitts.
Wrist: Headhunter's Bands.
Waist: Headhunter's Belt.
Legs: Headhunter's Woolies.
Feet: Headhunter's Slippers.
Cloak: Not shown.

Weapons: Since Monks can use a variety of weapons, I'll have to find a couple of nice ones, preferably ones that go with my gear or look cool otherwise.

For now I have the following candidates for each slot:

2. Assassination Blade.
3. Gurubashi Punisher.
4. Headsplitter.
5. Fel-Wrought Halberd.
6. Magician Staff.

It is very well possible that the Ruthless Gladiator weapons will be removed from the game when MoP comes out, I'll have to find another pair of claws then.

That's it for transmogrification, for now.
Next time: Mounts and pets. Stay tuned!

First post!

Welcome to my first blog!

I was toying around with the idea of making a Pandaren Monk when I saw the trailer for Mists of Pandaria.
The monk class has always appealed to me in other games, so I was pretty excited when they announced it.

This blog is going to be about me planning my character. When I say plan my character, I don't mean I make up a story for him, I am not a roleplayer.
I am what some would call a powergamer, the kind of player that wants to optimize every aspect of his character to the fullest.

My goal is to pretty much collect the best possible gear for my Monk in advance, as well as mounts, pets, titles etc, as much as possible.
To give you an idea here is a small list of what ideas I was toying around with:

- Collect items that can be used for rep turnins with different factions in advance such as Heavy Junkboxes for Ravenholdt and Encrypted Twilight Text for the Cenarion Circle, etc.
- Gather all the items I need for leveling the professions I plan to level.
- Accumulate all the vanity pets I can.
- Acquire all gear I plan to use in advance, as well as sets I use for Transmogrification. This together with Enchants for all of them.

In this blog I will be posting list of items I plan to use, as well as methods to obtain them.

I recently joined a guild with a bunch of people from the gold making community. This idea came from Flux of the Power Word: Gold blog.
We started new characters on a realm (Draenor-EU and Lightbringer-US) and share methods to accumulate gold. Our guild name is appropriately named <Power Word Guild>.
Since I need a lot of gold for some of the more luxury items, I am first starting to collect all the gold in advance.

This blog is mostly about the story of my journey towards my goal.
Most of the content will either be about the things I plan to collect for my monk or making the gold to do so.
I plan to update regularly as I have many ideas I want to share with people and I'm looking for some feedback as well.

About myself:

I am a 25 year old student from the Netherlands, I have been playing World of Warcraft for 5 years.
There aren't many aspects I'm not familiar within the game, as such I consider myself pretty knowledgable about it.
Of course I don't know everything, but luckily I have the skillset of knowing where to look for information and apply it.

I have been mostly keeping myself busy with raiding and PvP, and I have played on multiple realms, such as Nordrassil-EU, Stormscale-EU, Bladefist-EU and now Draenor-EU.
The classes I've played as a "main" vary as well, but most of them have been PvE tanks and/or melee dps.

English is not my primary language, so don't be alarmed at all the grammar and spelling mistakes you see here on my blog. Feel free to send me a message if you spot any!
I am also not an experienced writer, so I hope I can at least make it interesting enough for people to read it. :)

The easiest way to contact me is to tweet at or Direct Message @Daimyoh on twitter.
